COVERAGE
A coverage is the first step in finding a film to produce. It is the breakdown of a script into a more digestible format. It includes a full synopsis of the script, a page of notes and either a pass or consider rating depending on it’s quality. If a film is ‘considered’ then further research is made on whether or not to acquire it. This is an example of the Drive Away Dolls screenplay.

Development notes
During production and the various stages of a script, producers will provide feedback in the form of development notes. This is after a script is acquired and gives opinions on what works and what doesn’t in the story. It consists of eight pages with a detailed synopsis and comments, akin to an expanded coverage. This is an example of the Challengers screenplay.

Draft Comparison
When a script is in production it goes through a couple phases. There can be many different drafts of the same script with small or major differences. A draft comparison is the breakdown of the differences and their positive and negative aspects. This is an example of two different scripts for the devil in the white city, a film that has been stuck in production hell for decades based on the book of the same name.
