Scheduling & Budgeting
In order to produce anything, a schedule is needed. This schedule consists of locations, dates, times, actors, scene descriptions, script pages, anything and everything to make sure the crew is on the same page. There are different formats that can be used including a stripboard and a cast day out of days (DOD). The stripboard is a visual representation of all the elements combined while cast DOD shows which actors are needed on which days. Below is an example of a stripboard and a cast DOD for the first episode of Barry.
After the schedule comes the budget. Films require financing and to ensure that the film doesn’t go over projections, a detailed budget is created for all aspects of the film. This includes wages for Crew, contracts for actors, supplies for sets, money for props, anything and everything is included if there’s money being spent on it. Budgets range from thousands to millions but all are needed. Below is an example of the budget for the first episode of Barry if it was made for $ 600,000.
